Call of Duty: Vanguard is a sizable game in terms of its content and modes, so it was bound to have some issues at launch. Currently, players are experiencing sound issues like the audio cutting completely out and sounding really glitchy. Here, we’ll provide some solutions to fix the sound issues in Vanguard.

How to fix sound issues in Call of Duty: Vanguard

If you are part of the unlucky batch who are experiencing unpleasant audio cracking issues, you should make sure that your sound settings are set properly.

If you play the game on console, most of your audio settings on default should be working fine. Should the problem happen on your system, you should restart the game and make sure your application is updated to the latest version. Usually, a restart would do the trick, but it only tends to happen in the menus.

If you are on PC, you may want to make sure you have the correct game sound device selected via your audio settings. For whatever reason your default system device is having issues, try picking the specific device that you’d want the audio output to run through.

Should you still be facing problems on PC, try closing the game, then use the Battle.net launcher to scan and repair the game. While you’re at it, it wouldn’t hurt to check out if all of your audio drivers are up to date or aren’t conflicting.

If all else fails, reinstalling the game is a solution, though something you shouldn’t have to resort to.

As for other audio issues present in the game like footsteps almost sounding nonexistent, there is no fix for that. No amount of spacial audio enhancements can fix that right now. Hopefully, Sledgehammer will address this problem soon as many players are complaining about the lack of tactical awareness when playing Vanguard.

There are other known issues currently in Vanguard like the packet burst issues which we have solutions for here.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is out now for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, and PC via Battle.net. To check out additional content regarding the game, click here.
