New World Release Time, Pre-Load Details, Install Size, and More
There has been a lot of conversation around New World, an MMO developed by Amazon. It is set in the seventeenth century where you can explore new lands to claim as your own and fend off enemies who wish to challenge your dominion. Although Amazon’s foray into the gaming space shows much promise, New World has faced a number of delays that may have left some gamers confused about the state of the game and when they can play it. Fortunately, this guide will outline the release time, pre-load details, install size, and more for New World.
New World Release Time
After countless delays, New World has received a release date of 28 September 2021. According to the developers, the delay was necessary in order to implement improvements suggested during the game’s closed beta. Servers will launch at different times in different regions, which might be a bit confusing. The servers will launch at the following times:
- Australia – 09: 00 PM AEST
- US West – 08: 00 AM PDT
- US East – 08: 00 AM EDT
- EU – 08: 00 AM CEST
- South America – 08: 00 AM BRT
New World Pre-Load
If you have purchased New World, pre-loading of the game will be available from the 27th of September. Pre-loading opens from 08:00 AM PT. With New World pre-loaded, you will be able to play as soon as servers go live on the 28th of September. According to the minimum requirements listed on the official New World website, a minimum of 50 GB available will be needed to download the game.
Does New World Require A Subscription?
Unlike most MMOs, New World will not run on a subscription-based service. Instead, you will only need to make a one-off purchase of the base game. At launch, three versions of the game will be on sale. This includes the $39 standard edition, the $49 deluxe edition, and a limited edition steelbook edition.
While there is no subscription, the game will offer opportunities to make in-game purchases. If you are subscribed to Amazon Prime, you will be given access to plenty of free content regularly. This will begin on launch day, with Prime Gaming members receiving free Pirate Packs containing an exclusive pirate skin and pirate-stance emote.
What Kind of Gameplay Can You Expect?
As Attack of the Fanboy has previously detailed, New World starts you off as a lowly level one player, leaving you to slowly level up and gain experience. Combat available includes team-based PvP matches as well as a 50v50 war mode for epic battles. Servers will accommodate over a thousand players at a time, and the developers have prepared multiple servers across the continents.
There are also dungeons to explore which reveal secrets about Aeternum Island and offer bountiful loot to discover. Exploration, crafting, and resource gathering are also important gameplay elements. Those looking to immerse themselves in a fantasy world will be happy to know that the game does feature RPG elements and character customization.
New World is available on PC from the 28th of September 2021.
