Metroid Dread: Where to Get the Morph Ball
After returning to Cataris through the Diaron shuttle for the first time, it may be vague on where to go next. For long-time Metroid fans, you may be wondering where the normally first-gained “Maru Mari” is actually residing. Luckily for you, the Morph Ball is next on Samus’ checklist, but you’ll have to defeat Cataris’ E.M.M.I. first, and this may prove to be more of a challenge than it seems. In this guide, you’ll learn how to finally receive the power of the Morph Ball from the green E.M.M.I. drone, setting you on track for the rest of the game’s storyline.
Head to your right and push aside a Wide Beam Box
Once you leave the shuttle, you’ll only be able to head to the right. You’ll soon encounter a mechanical station blocked off by a Wide Beam Box you weren’t previously able to use. Make use of your new ability to push it aside and head down. You’ll soon be entering the E.M.M.I. zone again, marked by the holographic door, so you might want to pause here and plan your pathway out before charging in. This E.M.M.I. moves quickly, and it’s difficult to make an escape if caught.
Travel down the corridor and towards the Central Unit to gain the Omega Blaster
As soon as you’re in the E.M.M.I. zone you’ll want to move quickly. Follow the map above to reach the Central Unit. Travel through the door at the bottom of the corridor and head up and to your left. Once inside the room, you should be safe. Defeat the Central Unit the same way you’ve done before and gain the Omega Blaster. The game will autosave at this point to prevent you from having to backtrack if you die, so you’re safe for now.
Once you leave the room, travel as far away from the E.M.M.I. as possible. It’s recommended that you place Samus up against a wall and aim straight forwards. This E.M.M.I. moves faster than the others, and you’ll need a lot of time to blast its face mask off. As soon as the E.M.M.I. is stunned from the Omega Stream, quickly retreat and try to gain some distance on the drone. At a safe range, charge up your Omega Blaster and hit the drone in the core, allowing you to retrieve the Morph Ball from its body.
