Music has always played a critical role throughout every Zelda game, and that’s no different in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake for Nintendo Switch. As in the original game, there is an Ocarina that Link can play various songs on with each having its own unique effect. We’ve shown you how to get the Ocarina, but now it’s time to explain where to learn Ocarina songs in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Where to Learn Ocarina Songs

While it is only used a few times in Link’s Awakening, The Ballad of the Wind Fish is arguably the most important Ocarina song in the whole game. Because of this we have already crafted a separate guide explaining how to learn the Ballad of the Wind Fish. Check out that guide for the specific details, but in terms of where to learn the Ballad of the Wind Fish it all comes down to Marin.

Marin knows the Ballad of the Wind Fish and is willing to teach it to Link any time he speaks with her after obtaining the Ocarina. We’ve explained where Marin is before, but that assumes you’re looking for her after she goes missing. Following that quest you should be able to find her either at the wind vane in the middle of Mabe Village or at Animal Village. If she’s not there then you likely will run into her during the course of your next main quest, so just keep playing and speak with her when you can.

Beyond that there are two songs you will want to learn: Manbo’s Mambo and Frog’s Song of Soul. Where to learn Manbo’s Mambo is an easy one as you can do so right after completing the Angler’s Tunnel dungeon. Once you exit the dungeon itself just hop in the water and swim to the left, see how to swim here if you don’t yet know. Head into the cave you come across and the big fish inside will teach you the song. This will allow you to fast travel by warping to any unlocked warp node.

As far as where to learn Frog’s Song of Soul, that resides south of Mabe Village in an area called Signpost Maze. To get there and learn the Ocarina song you’ll need to have completed the Catfish Maw dungeon, and you’ll want to make sure you have 300 rupees on hand. Now you just need to get through the Signpost Maze which is pretty simple, but tricky. All you need to do is follow the direction each sign gives you, but make sure not to deviate from that direction. If it says to walk to the right, walk straight to the right until you hit the next sign. Follow all of them and you’ll reach the end and learn Frog’s Song of Soul.

And that’s where to learn Ocarina songs in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
