How to Get an Allay in Minecraft
One of the newest mobs to come to Minecraft with the Wild update is Allay. This is the community-picked mob which makes its debut even more special. Though they launched into Minecraft with frogs, Allays are arguably more useful since they can actually bring you items that you need. Here is everything you need to know about Allay in Minecraft.
Where to Find Allay in Minecraft
Currently, there are only two places where Allay can be found. The first place is in dark oak cages at pillager outposts. These places are rarer than villages but with luck can be found in Plains, Deserts, Savannas, Taigas, Snowy Tundras, Snowy Taigas, Sunflower Plains, and Meadows.
The second place where Allay are found is in woodland mansion jail cells. Woodland mansions are definitely rarer than pillager outposts, but offer loads of good loot when found. Each place can spawn 1 to 3 Allay.
How to Use Allay in Minecraft
Once you have an Allay or two, you’ll want to know how to best use them. Allay are retrievers, meaning if you give them any item, they will find more of it and deliver it to you. All you need to do is give your Allay the item you want it to search for. It can be any item in the game. Once you’ve done that, the Allay will follow you and continuously look for the item you gave it.
The Allay will follow the player who gave it the item up to 64 blocks away, even if they can’t see you. It will seek items up to 32 blocks away. The Allay can’t go into water, although it will try. Also, Allay only have one inventory slot, meaning it can hold up to 64 stacks of one item only. Allay can be killed, but they regenerate two hearts per second. Lastly, Allay don’t differentiate enchantment or special item names when looking for those items.
