How to Catch Snorlax in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!

One of the most powerful non-Legendary Pokémon of the original 151 creatures is Snorlax. Snorlax’s appearance in the new Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! games is very similar to how it appeared in the original Red and Blue back in the 90s. For those who may be too young to have played those games, or simply didn’t get around to them, here’s how to catch the sleepy, blue beast in the newest games.

During your adventure throughout the Kanto region, you’ll likely notice two sleeping Snorlax blocking your path; one east of Vermillion City, past Route 11, on the bridge on Route 12, and the other west of Celadon City in the middle of Route 16. To be able to catch either of them, you’ll first have to wake them up. To do this, you’ll first need the Poké Flute item.

As you progress through the game normally, you’ll eventually come to Lavender Town after passing through the Rock Tunnel. Here, there will be a subplot about a Cubone whose mother was kidnapped by Team Rocket. After exploring the Pokémon Tower and attempting to progress westward, you’ll find that the Cubone itself will be kidnapped by Team Rocket as well. Continue westward, eventually taking the underground path to get to Celadon City. Here, you’ll have to infiltrate Team Rocket’s hidden base underneath the Game Corner. Once you’ve successfully gotten through the secret base and rescued Cubone, it will return to Lavender Town. Return there yourself and climb to the top of the Pokémon Tower. At the top, Cubone will confront the large ghost, who turns out to be the Cubone’s mother. The spirit of Cubone’s mother will finally be at peace and let you pass, granting you passage to the top floor of the Pokémon Tower. Here, you’ll have to battle Team Rocket to save Mr. Fuji, the town’s caretaker of abandoned Pokémon. Once you have successfully rescued Mr. Fuji, he will take you back to his house where he will give you the Poké Flute.

Now that you have the Poké Flute, you can wake both of the Snorlax you had previously found sleeping. Simply walk up to one of the Snorlax and interact with it with the A button. It will wake up and attack you, making it one of the few wild Pokémon in the game that you actually have to battle. Before being able to catch it, you’ll have to defeat it in battle. Use your strongest Pokémon and reduce Snorlax’s HP to zero; you will only have five minutes to defeat it. Once you are victorious, you will have the opportunity to catch Snorlax in the same manner as you’ve caught every other wild Pokémon thus far.

Alternatively, you can also find wild Snorlax in Cerulean Cave in the post-game, though they are incredibly rare. To increase your chances of finding one, you can use a Lure, Super Lure, or Max Lure, or rack up a large Catch Combo by catching the same Pokémon many times in a row.
