The Battlefield 2042 Beta is out in Early Access right now and it’s quite the change from the Battlefield games of old as the new and near-futuristic setting is a big-time change from the very realistic settings that we’ve been used to. Like most military first-person shooters, the multiplayer is a huge factor in the experience and with what we’ve seen from the Battlefield 2042 Beta, they might be the new king of the hill. With gigantic battles of 128 players on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC and a respectable 64 players per match on PS4 and Xbox One, the size of these fights with other players in a triple-A game is just unprecedented outside of Battle Royale games. With battles that big though, you definitely want to invite your friends right? But what if you’ve got a friend on PC while you have an Xbox Series X? Here is everything you need to know about Cross-Play in Battlefield 2042 Beta.

Is There Cross-Play in Battlefield 2042 Beta?

Cross-Play in Battlefield 2042 is enabled, but it comes with a few caveats. See, it works for the beta, but only if you are playing on the same platform as your friends. If you and your friends are on PS5, you can just invite them to a party within a game, and off you’re good to go. If you’re on different platforms like one on PC and one on PS5 for example, it’s not as simple. Parties are only available on the same consoles, so this means that Cross-Play doesn’t allow parties at this time. This doesn’t count out Cross-Play completely though, as there is a workaround available. Instead of joining a party as normal, you both have to find the same game to play in. Once you’re in the actual game, you still can’t party up, so you’ll be using the in-game group chat, which isn’t the most ideal experience, but it’s better than nothing.

It is presumed that the full release of Battlefield 2042 will have Cross-Play features fully enabled, so for now, just try and either play on the same console or make a chat through Discord to chat with your friends during the game.

Battlefield 2042 Beta is out now for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
